Battlefield 6 FPS Drops: Troubleshooting Guide ("Падает FPS", "After Season 5")

Read this first: EA/DICE has not said that Season 5 caused an FPS drop. As of Oct 30, 2026, we found no performance regression in EA's 2.1.1.0 patch notes or the Oct 21 "More to Season 5" update. If your FPS fell after Season 5, this is a general checklist for finding the cause, based on official EA, NVIDIA and AMD guidance. It isn't a fix for a confirmed Season 5 bug.

Players are searching "Падает FPS" and "После 5 го сезона очень сильно падает фпс" ("FPS drops a lot after Season 5"), plus "лагает BF" ("BF is lagging") and "Как починить тёмный экран" ("how to fix the dark screen"). MetaPatchAI didn't test anything. RU version: translate this page and keep the source links (PR-005). This file is the EN base.

Troubleshooting steps (in order)

  1. Update the game. Season 5 launched with Game Update 2.1.1.0 on Oct 13, 2026, and smaller client patches followed. Make sure you have the latest one. Patch notes: https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-6/news/battlefield-6-game-update-2-1-1-0
  2. Turn on the performance overlay to see what's dropping. Go to Settings → Graphics → Advanced → Modify → Performance Overlay → Simple (EA, Dec 11, 2025 community update).
  3. If the sim rate drops below 60Hz, cap your frame rate in Advanced Graphics settings to ease CPU load. EA says this happens on CPUs near minimum spec, with symptoms like rubberbanding and latency-like issues. (Same EA update, from Season 1; it may still apply.)
  4. Steam players with stutter at regular intervals: EA's Dec 2025 workaround was to set your Steam friends-list status to Offline. EA said a hotfix for this was scheduled for Dec 12, 2025, so it may already be fixed. Only try this if your stutter happens at regular intervals.
  5. Update your GPU driver, and check the vendor notes:
  6. NVIDIA: Game Ready 621.01 (released Oct 21, 2026, per NVIDIA). Its release headline doesn't list Battlefield 6: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/details/282413/
  7. AMD: Adrenalin 26.10.1 release notes: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-26-10-1.html. AMD's BF6 known-issues page (PA-292) lists crashes or driver timeouts on Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and texture flickering/corruption with AMD Record and Stream, with "no driver-side workaround". If you're on AMD, turn off Record and Stream while you play: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/PA-292.html
  8. PC: repair the game files in the EA app or Steam. EA Help lists repair as a general fix for in-game problems: https://help.ea.com/en/articles/battlefield/battlefield-6/error-codes/
  9. Report it. Post a bug report on the EA Forums.

What the Season 5 official notes say

  • 2.1.1.0 included "Audio, AI and Stability Improvements", including "visual-effect stability". It doesn't promise any performance gains (EA patch notes).
  • On Oct 21, EA said two-seater jets aren't on more maps yet because of "technical performance and game balance issues". That's about jets, not client FPS (More to Season 5).

Dark screen ("тёмный экран")

Not confirmed. No official BF6 known issue about a dark screen on PC turned up. The only screen issue EA confirmed was a white screen in the campaign on PS5 Pro, and it's fixed. Check with the requester whether this is a different issue.

Confirmed / Not confirmed

Confirmed: the 2.1.1.0 release (Oct 13, 2026); the performance overlay and FPS-cap advice (EA, Dec 2025); AMD PA-292's two issues; the NVIDIA 621.01 release date. Not confirmed: that Season 5 caused a general FPS drop (EA hasn't acknowledged one); any official fix for it; a dark-screen fix; any specific settings preset.
