How to Join the Dead by Daylight PTB (Public Test Build) on Steam, and How to Leave It

An evergreen how-to for every Dead by Daylight PTB, including the current 10.3.0 Terrifier PTB. It's based on Behaviour Interactive's official pages. MetaPatchAI didn't test anything.

Steps: join

  1. Open your Steam library and right-click Dead by Daylight.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Open Betas and choose Public Test Build from the list.
  4. If that option isn't there, there's probably no PTB live right now. (BHVR knowledge base)

Steps: leave

  • Go back to Properties → Betas and switch back to the live version. Your live progress returns to how it was before you switched; PTB progress stays on the PTB. (BHVR knowledge base)

Things to know (official)

  • Steam only. "Currently, this feature is only available to players on Steam." (BHVR)
  • Your PTB save is an old snapshot. It's copied from your live account "several days in the past", so it can look like you've lost progress. (BHVR)
  • PTB progress stays on the PTB. It never carries over to live. (BHVR)
  • Current PTB: 10.3.0 Terrifier, live on Steam since Oct 28, 2026. The full chapter release is listed for Nov 24, 2026. (Behaviour patch notes; Terrifier chapter page)

Confirmed / Not confirmed

Confirmed: the join steps, Steam-only access, how snapshot saves work, and the 10.3.0 PTB dates above. Not confirmed: when the 10.3.0 PTB closes. A fan wiki says PTBs usually run for about 6 days, but that's community info and isn't used here.
