Primary source: Valve, "Halloween 2026 + Gameplay Update," Deadlock Steam announcement (posted Oct 30, 2026, 4:51 PM ET per the Steam News API). Rechecked Oct 31, 2026 via the Steam News API.
Oct 30, 2026: Valve just pushed a big Halloween update for Deadlock, and the seasonal decorations are the least of it. Along with pumpkins, masks and a spooky Hideout, the patch reworks the Mid-Boss fight, changes comeback mechanics, and touches dozens of items and heroes. It also makes the latest six heroes bannable in ranked.
Here's what matters, straight from Valve's notes.
The Halloween event: Cauldrons and Sugar Rush
New this year are Halloween Cauldrons around the map. Per Valve:
- Break a cauldron with a Heavy Melee to grab a piece of Candy
- Eat it later for a temporary Sugar Rush buff ("Who said candy is bad for you?")
- The festivities are live "in-game now through November 2nd, 2026"
Valve's notes don't give the Sugar Rush buff's exact stats.
The big one: Mid-Boss rework
The Mid-Boss gets the most changes. Per Valve's notes:
- The arena is "a little bigger now and has more cover"
- Health and health-per-minute are both up 20%
- Resistance reductions are now "only 50% as effective" against it
- Its Roar now happens at 25% HP instead of 50%
- Bounty is halved, from 3000 (+50/min) to 1500 (+25/min)
- The Rejuvenator now drops as 3 crystals placed around the pit, not 1 in the center. Each breaks in one heavy melee and grants one Rejuvenator (still 3 total). Each crystal now gives a full heal and a 500 (+9/min) bounty to whoever breaks it. The drop time rises from 6s to 7.5s.
What that means in practice: the Rejuvenator fight becomes a scramble for three crystals instead of a single contested grab.
Comeback and map changes
- Comeback gold from non-hero sources rises from a max of 26% to 30% (when behind by about 20% Net Worth)
- When behind, the bonus soul multiplier now also boosts tick souls for the 2 poorest players
- Haunted Souls secure 25% slower by default, but up to 50% faster than baseline for the team that's behind on Net Worth
- Haunts gain 10% bounty, HP and damage. Breakables' growth values drop 10%.
- Healing Snacks heal 14% Max HP (up from 10%). Steam Vents now give +150% stamina regen.
- Tunnel move speed drops from +70% to +50%
Ranked note: "Latest 6 heroes are no longer categorized as 'new' anymore," so they now have normal unlock requirements for ranked "and can now be banned."
Notable item changes
- High-Velocity Rounds: bullet velocity cut from 60% to 45% (upgrades unaffected)
- Radiant Regeneration: heal on ability cast now only works in combat and drops from 65 to 40, and its spirit-damage regen scaling also drops
- Spirit Sap: cooldown 18s → 22s, range 40m → 35m
- Divine Barrier: cooldown 45s → 55s
- Shadow Weave: loses Ambush Fire Rate and Melee Damage, gains +50% Ambush Weapon Damage, and needs 6s of stealth to fully charge
- Lifesteal buffs across the board: Bullet Lifesteal, Spirit Lifesteal, Infuser, Vampiric Burst, Leech and Fury Trance all gain stats
- Hunter's Aura no longer works through walls
Hero changes: who got hit
Nerfs: - Solomon: -20% headshot damage, base bullet damage 30 → 25, Rook Battery scaling 1.3 → 0.9, Develop Queen cooldown 210s → 240s (though Queen's damage scaling and base checkmate get buffs) - Rat King: base bullet damage -5%, bullet growth -20%, Scrap Grenade damage down, Rule, Ratannia! knockup halved and cooldown 160s → 180s - Violet: Still Life stun 1.0s → 0.9s, Abstract Landscape cooldown 165s → 180s, and it now ends early if Violet dies - Graves: move speed 7 → 6.7, bullet damage per boon -4%, slower Grasping Hands deploy - Nurse Harrow: base gun damage -10%; Lurking Terrors fear builds slower; T3 changed from damage immunity to 50% damage reduction while channeling - Mo & Krill: spirit per boon 1.1 → 0.6, ability spirit damage -10% (bullet damage per boon +4%) - Wraith and Celeste take smaller hits; Venator, Kelvin, Paige and Yamato get mixed changes
Buffs: - Abrams (+5% base gun damage), Drifter (+3%), Mirage's Traveler (allies can now see where you're targeting, plus a reworked T2/T3), Warden, Doorman, Billy, Calico, Infernus, Lady Geist, Paradox and Grey Talon (Charged Shot T3 can now bounce once off a wall) - Apollo's Riposte pommel hit changes from a stun to an immobilize + parry disable, lasting 1.5s
Street Brawl gets its own nerfs for Deadman Danny, Nurse, Paige, Rat King and Violet.
