Oct 30, 2026: Queen's Domain, a first-person, retro-fantasy action RPG from developer Freshly Baked Games and publisher Future Friends Games, launched today on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The developer's Steam launch post ("Queen's Domain is HERE!") went up on Oct 30 at about 12:57 PM ET. A few hours earlier, the team said the game had passed 300,000 wishlists.

What is Queen's Domain?

The Steam store page calls it "a retro-fantasy action RPG with brutal combat and traversal-focused exploration." You wash up on the Isle of Neasied and set out to find your missing father, while "the sleeping Queen has begun to stir."

Press coverage keeps comparing it to King's Field, FromSoftware's first-person dungeon RPG series from before Demon's Souls. The publisher's own launch statement calls it a "FromSoft-inspired RPG."

Features listed on the Steam page

  • An interconnected island "filled with hidden secrets"
  • The Holy Sword Endu, which lets you fly across gaps between platforms. Upgrades let you fly further.
  • Action combat with a stamina meter, charge attacks, weapon-specific special attacks and secondary throwing weapons
  • 50+ melee weapons to find, equip and upgrade
  • 20+ types of secondary throwing weapons
  • Over 100 enemies, mini-bosses and bosses
  • XP-based leveling, plus food that "further increase[s] your stats"
  • "Dozens of hours" of adventuring, per the developer

Price, platforms and PC specs

Details
Platforms PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2
Steam price $19.99, listed at $16.99 (15% off) when we checked Oct 30, ~5:15 PM ET, and still on Oct 31, 12:04 PM ET. The developer says the discount runs "through launch week"
PS5 price $19.99, per Manoj Chekkilla at PlayStation LifeStyle (third-party report; we didn't check the PS Store listing)
Mode Single-player
Steam features Full controller support (including DualSense/DualShock), Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing
Demo A free Steam demo is listed

Minimum PC requirements (Steam page): - OS: Windows 10, 64-bit - CPU: Intel Core i5 quad core, 2.5 GHz - RAM: 4 GB - GPU: NVIDIA GTX 760 / AMD RX 560 - DirectX: 11 - Storage: 1,500 MB

Those are very modest specs, so most older laptops and handheld PCs should clear the minimum. The Steam page lists Windows only. The developer said on Oct 29 that the game is Steam Deck "Verified".

The hype, in the developer's own words

The launch post lists some pre-release highlights. These are the developer's claims and selected press quotes, not our verdicts:

  • 300,000 wishlists
  • A playthrough by YouTuber Iron Pineapple that the developer says "2.2 million people have watched"
  • GameSpot saying "This is gonna be a cult classic" (that's the title of GameSpot's YouTube video)
  • Streamer LobosJr saying he'll stream the entire game

In an earlier Oct 30 post, the developer also pointed to a Rock Paper Shotgun preview and a 9/10 review from The Wand Report. We haven't reviewed the game ourselves.

Why it matters

Retro "PS1-era" first-person RPGs have become a busy indie niche, and Queen's Domain is one of the higher-profile ones. PlayStation LifeStyle reports (third-party) that the Steam demo is rated "Very Positive" from more than 800 reviews. Launching on four platforms the same day is unusual for a small team. Players who were waiting on consoles don't have to wait for a port.

Quick take: if you liked the free demo, the launch discount on Steam makes this an easy Halloween-weekend pickup. If you didn't try it, the demo is still the safest way to find out whether the slow, deliberate King's Field style is for you.

What's confirmed / not confirmed

Confirmed (official sources): - Queen's Domain is out now on Steam, and the developer says it's also on Switch 2, Xbox Series and PS5 (Steam announcement, Oct 30, 2026). - The developer is Freshly Baked Games and the publisher is Future Friends Games (Steam page). - Steam's regular price is $19.99, with a 15% launch discount live when we checked. - The feature counts and minimum PC specs above come from the Steam page. - The developer says the game passed 300,000 wishlists.

Not confirmed / third-party: - Console pricing outside the PS5 figure reported by PlayStation LifeStyle. - The exact end date of the Steam launch discount (the developer says only "launch week"). - Review scores and press quotes are other outlets' opinions, as cited by the developer. - Team size and development time. The developer has called itself "a small dev duo" on Steam, but hasn't confirmed other details.
