Oct 30, 2026: tri-Ace's cult-classic gun-action JRPG is back again. Resonance of Fate / End of Eternity Enhanced Remaster is out now digitally on PS5 and Steam, according to a tri-Ace press release dated Oct 29, 2026. tri-Ace lists upscaled textures and a new 2x Game Speed option, and the Steam DLC page adds native 4K output, HDR and 120 fps support.

The catch for PC players: on Steam, the Enhanced Remaster isn't a separate game. It's a $9.99 DLC upgrade for the existing 4K/HD Edition.

What's new in the Enhanced Remaster

From the press release and the Steam DLC page:

  • Native 4K output, HDR and 120 fps support (Steam page: "significantly expands the available graphics options")
  • Upscaled textures for towns, characters "and more"
  • A decimation filter in the settings menu. tri-Ace says it "further refines fine details, such as hair," for a sharper look than the 2018 4K/HD Edition.
  • New 2x Game Speed: "Field exploration, battles, and events all run at twice the normal speed," per tri-Ace.

The 2x speed toggle is the only change listed that affects how the game plays. Everything else is presentation.

A launch-day hiccup on Steam (now fixed)

On Oct 30 (~3:31 AM ET), tri-Ace posted a Steam announcement titled "[Resolved] Issue That Prevented DLC from Downloading." The studio says a "configuration error" stopped purchased DLC from downloading. It says the problem is fixed and that the download "will start automatically" for affected buyers, so there's no need to buy it again. If your upgrade still isn't showing, restarting Steam is a reasonable first step. That's our general advice, not tri-Ace's.

Why it matters

Resonance of Fate first came out in 2010. The 4K/HD Edition followed in 2018. tri-Ace's press release highlights the game's "Hero Action" battle system, which blends tactics with acrobatic gunfights, and its soundtrack by Kōhei Tanaka and Motoi Sakuraba.

This release is the first time the game has been on PS5. For PC owners who already have the 4K/HD Edition, a $9.99 upgrade instead of a full rebuy is the friendliest part of the deal. The 2x speed mode may also win over players who found the original's pacing slow.
