Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game's "Avatar State Patch" Is Live: Reworked Aang and Korra, Full Rebalance, Fighter Vote

Oct 30, 2026: Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game just got what its developers call "the biggest update the game has seen." In an Xbox Wire post on Oct 30, 2026, Soraya Turner, Gameplay Group's Marketing and Social Media Manager, says the Avatar State Patch is "available today" on Xbox Series X|S. It brings a full UI redesign, two reworked fighters, Ranked Mode 2.0, and balance changes for every character on the roster.

The headline changes

According to the official post, the patch includes:

  • A redesigned interface, from the menus through to the in-match HUD.
  • Two reworked fighters: Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra, each with new art, attacks and supers.
  • Every fighter rebalanced. "From Aang to Zaheer, every character has been fine-tuned."
  • More ways to play and learn. Story Mode+, Story difficulty settings, new tutorials and Combo Trials, Story stages in Versus, and Ranked Mode 2.0.

Avatar Aang: Roku joins the fight

The developers call this Aang "pure, overwhelming power," inspired by his final fight with Fire Lord Ozai:

  • His signature special, Avatar's Ascension, lifts him into an air sphere full of callbacks to the Ozai fight.
  • His new Level 4 super brings in Avatar Roku. The new Super Technique, Roku's Inferno, has Aang reach into the spirit world and temporarily turn into Roku, who "engulfs the entire battlefield with a scorching flame."

Nightmare Korra: a rebuilt moveset

Nightmare Korra is based on the dark reflection from The Legend of Korra episode "Korra Alone," with her Book 3 fight against Zaheer as another influence. The team says her kit "has been rebuilt to match her haunting presence":

  • She mixes slow, dragging movement with sudden chain swings and teleports, and now wears chains on both wrists.
  • Her Final Technique is Eternal Nightmare.
  • She starts the match with less health, which replaced an early prototype idea where her health drained constantly.

Two balance changes worth knowing

The post calls out two big shifts. The full notes are coming separately (see below).

  • Azula: Ambition's Spark (her Focused Stance move) now tracks much closer to the opponent, has a much bigger detonation hitbox, and can be flow-canceled.
  • Sokka: under certain conditions with his Master Piandao support, his sword specials can cancel straight into a boomerang toss. After 10 stacks of successful sword hits, he keeps that ability for the rest of the match.

Vote for the last Year 1 Pass fighter

Deluxe Edition owners and pre-order buyers can now vote in-game for the fifth Year 1 Pass character. Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin are already confirmed. The candidates for the last spot are:

  • Tenzin
  • Kuvira
  • Amon
  • King Bumi
  • Asami Sato

Deluxe owners get an extra vote, and upgrading to Deluxe counts even without a pre-order. Voting runs for one month from the main menu. The post lists prices of $29.99 (Standard) and $49.99 (Deluxe, which includes the Year 1 Pass).
