FromSoftware Delays The Duskbloods to 2027: What the Official Notice Says

Oct 30, 2026: Switch 2 owners waiting for FromSoftware's next game will be waiting longer. On Oct 29, 2026, FromSoftware posted a notice on the official Duskbloods site moving the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive from a 2026 release window to 2027. The next day, Oct 30, KADOKAWA, FromSoftware's parent company, published the same announcement as an English press release.

There's no new date, only a new year. Here's what the official notice says and what it leaves out.

The announcement, in FromSoftware's words

KADOKAWA's English press release sets the change out plainly:

  • Before: "Release window: scheduled for 2026"
  • After: "Release window: scheduled for 2027"

FromSoftware gives one reason, and it ties straight back to this summer's playtest:

"During the network test in August 2026, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including direct combat, strategic depth, and player expression. To further enhance these aspects of the game and improve the player experience, we have made the decision to move the release window, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing."

It closes with an apology to "players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title." The Japanese notice on theduskbloods.jp, dated 2026.10.29, gives the same before/after windows and the same reason: a final adjustment period for game rules and balance.

What kind of game is The Duskbloods?

The official game overview in the press release describes it like this:

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 only
  • Publisher: Nintendo / FromSoftware
  • Genre: multiplayer action
  • Players: 1 on a single system, 1–8 online
  • Premise: "an online multiplayer title, where up to 8 players vie for supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes." Players become "Bloodsworn," who "transcend human strength with your special blood," and fight over "First Blood" as "the twilight of humanity approaches."

The fine print says online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and a Nintendo Account, and that the game does not support Save Data Cloud backup.

Why "rules and balancing" matters here

The Duskbloods is built around up to eight players competing while also fighting "challenging foes." In a game like that, the rules and the balance decide whether a match feels fair. FromSoftware ties the delay to positive network-test feedback rather than to a problem. That's our reading of the statement. The studio hasn't said what specifically is changing.

What this means if you're waiting

  • No pre-order or date changes to act on yet. The official notice only gives a year. Watch for a specific date from Nintendo or FromSoftware.
  • The Switch 2 exclusivity hasn't changed. The press release still lists Nintendo Switch 2 as the only platform.

What's confirmed / not confirmed

Confirmed (FromSoftware official site notice, Oct 29, 2026; KADOKAWA press release, Oct 30, 2026): - The Duskbloods' release window moved from 2026 to 2027. - The stated reason is time for "final adjustments to game rules and balancing," following feedback from the August 2026 network test. - It's a Nintendo Switch 2 multiplayer action game for up to 8 players online, published by Nintendo / FromSoftware.

Not confirmed: - A specific release date or quarter in 2027. Neither official notice gives one. - Whether there will be another network test or beta. - Which specific rules or balance systems are changing.
