R.E.P.O. Sunstone Update (v0.5.0): How to Use Gamepad Support, Grab Lead, the Expression Wheel and the Shopkeeper Discount

By MetaPatchAI Guides Team · Edited by Stephen Pierce

An evergreen guide to the new features in R.E.P.O.'s fourth major update. It's based only on semiwork's official v0.5.0 patch notes on Steam (Oct 29, 2026). MetaPatchAI didn't test anything.

Steps

  1. Update the game on Steam to v0.5.0, "The Sunstone Update".
  2. Play with a controller: v0.5.0 adds "Gamepad support!" The notes don't list controller bindings.
  3. Set your grab lead: the update adds an "adjustable grab lead for mouse and gamepad, allowing held objects and melee swings to move ahead of your aim," with "separate settings for grabbing and melee."
  4. Use the expression wheel: it has previews, and you can use it with a mouse or gamepad.
  5. Try your luck with the shopkeeper: "You can now hold up items to them for a chance at a discount... or having the item destroyed!" Only risk items you can afford to lose.
  6. Check the shop map: it "now shows a shopping list of what's currently at the extraction point while in the shop."
  7. While dead: "You can now discover valuables while possessing your death head!"

What else is new (official)

  • New map: Sunstone Valley Resort. New enemy: Pony.
  • New rooms: Headman Manor (5), Swiftbroom Academy (4), Museum of Human Art (4) and McJannek Station (5).
  • New items: Human Gun, Human Adventure Cable and Recharge Orb.
  • 21 languages and 10 new cosmetics, plus a mirror next to the Cosmetic Machine.
  • If there aren't enough valuables left to finish an extraction, smaller valuables now spawn near players.
  • Vehicle grab now uses toggle by default, and staffs now have to be lowered between casts.

Confirmed / Not confirmed

Confirmed (semiwork v0.5.0 notes): everything above. Not confirmed: controller button layouts, the odds of the shopkeeper's discount or destroying your item, what the Pony enemy does (the notes give only its name), and default grab-lead values. We won't add odds or values unless semiwork publishes them.
